Our Purpose Statement: Why we exist
To provide an atmosphere conducive to spiritual growth without regard to race, gender, orientation or social status. We believe the church is to be a place where people develop in their understanding of God and grow in their service to Him. It is our conviction that essential to our relationship with God is a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. We place a high priority on teaching the Scripture which we recognize as the primary source for faith, living and worship. Together we desire to be a loving and caring fellowship reflecting the life of Christ in our community.
Our Vision Statement: What we intend to do
To build a church body which offers age-appropriate life development ministries that respond to the unique needs of our community of faith. We seek to build a congregation with ministries that support and affirm individual and family units with a nursery, children's church, youth & young adult ministries, single ministries, family ministries, ministries for parents of gays/lesbians, complete counseling center, home for AIDS patients and other comprehensive ministries that address the needs of our community. This is the guiding vision for our long range goals.
Our Faith Statement: What we believe
This church accepts as its Statement of Faith, Covenant and Purpose, the Statement of Faith of the United Church of Christ (UCC) approved by the Second General Synod.
We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, Father of out LORD Jesus Christ and our Father, and to His deeds we testify:
He calls the worlds into being, creates man in His own image and sets before him the ways of life and death.
He seeks in His holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
He judges men and nations by His righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen LORD, He comes to us to shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to Himself.
He bestows upon us His Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.
He calls us into His church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be His servants in the service of men, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at His table, to join Him in His passion and victory.
He promises to all who trust Him forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, His Presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in His kingdom which has no end.
Blessings and honor, glory and power be unto Him without end.
Amen

Our Values Statement: What we practice
We believe that God is Maker and Sustainer of ALL His Creation. We believe that God created all people with value and purpose. We see the two great commands to us as Christians found in Matthew 22:37-40 as first loving and serving God with our whole being. And second; loving and serving our neighbor as ourselves. We encourage members of HTCC to practice daily disciplines of Scripture reading and prayer that will keep their hearts warm an din love with their Heavenly Creator.
As believers and followers of Christ, our goal in daily living is to live out the "Golden Rule." That is 'doing unto others as we'd have them do unto us.' We seek to live out Christian love in all situations we may face.
When we have offended a brother/sister in Christ or if a brother/sister has offended us, we are to follow the guidelines set forth in Matthew 18:15-19 and Luke 17:3. This is to work out any issue with that person, or including a ministerial team member to assist in any issues.
Because of the affirming stand HTCC has concerning human sexuality, we provide guidelines for sexual expression within our community of faith. HTCC's views come from a contemporary interpretation of sexuality in light of Scripture. We believe as a community of faith, we should affirm and support God's Ideal for sexual expression within committed, monogamous relationships. We affirm committed relationships through services of Holy Matrimony and services of Holy Union.
